HoP Idol Quickfire Challenge: Bonus from Rob

Just before declaring his intentions to leave the competition due to his schedule, Rob sent in his Deathwatch list for the Quickfire Challenge.  While he isn’t eligible for the competition any longer, we thought it’d be a shame if he went to the trouble to write this and didn’t get it out there.

Ok, so recently I’ve been looking at the Fantasy Flight Games roleplay books. Nobody in my (40k based) gaming group is interested in doing an RPG which is a bit of a shame, as I’m quite taken with the Deathwatch system. Based on that idea, the idea of running a deathwatch army on the table is amazing! Below is a quick 1750 list that I think would work well and would actually be quite fun to play with and against in a fairly competitive environment.

HQ: Pedro Kantor
HQ: Librarian in Power Armour (two powers of your choosing)
Elite: 10 Sternguard in a Drop Pod (5 Combi-meltas, Power Fist for Sergeant & Deathwind Missile for the Pod).

Total: 1745 – give somebody melta bombs if you like.
Pedro and Librarian each ride with a different (scoring) Sternguard units as they drop. The scouts could remain as ten man units or split to five man, depending on mission criteria. The way I see is that the scouting units eyeball the target before calling in the specialists. My original intention was to not have any long range fire support and max out on just scout squads and Sternguard, but that would be both spammy and boring to play. The predators here give good covering fire from distance while the speeders are a distraction tool which can’t be ignored.
I call this list the ‘pressure washer’ list – its nimble, small, has a good amount of power backfield and with practice could quite easily clean up.
