HoP Idol Quickfire Challenge: Twin-linked Awesome

Next up, Lantz does some branding by naming a nice little Vulkan Salamanders list for 40K after his own blog.  Nice move Lantz.

The idea is pretty obvious, I suppose. Vulkan (twin-linking Thunder Hammers, Heavy Flamers and Meltas) is placed with the Terminators in their Land Raider as a hammer unit. Drop pods fall in with Tac Squads that are split (Combat Squads) in the beginning with a Lascannon in the backfield picking off what they can and holding points while the combi-melta/meltagun are in the DP dropping in behind enemy lines. The other DPs are filled with Sternguard that split once they all step out of the DP. These guys will either pop vehicles that the Tac squads haven’t or use special issue ammunition to peg the gooey insides of the destroyed enemy transports. Land Speeders turbo-boost forward ASAP creating more distractions in the enemy deployment zones and with all of these distractions it will hopefully allow the hammer unit to get up the board without issue.
In a nutshell, Meltas pop open enemy vehicles/transports early on while the Termies and Flamers clean up the aftermath. The Lascannons in the backfield hold points and pop what they can see. The flexibility of Combat Squading and Special Issue Ammunition keep this list from getting stale and lessen the chance of getting caught with your pants down.
This is a list I always wanted to try when I played C:SM, but never had the models for. On paper I think it looks quite entertaining. I don’t see this list winning any tourneys, the downfall would be hoard armies like Tyranids. The point is entertainment-value.
