New Member Tuesday – Holiday Potpourri

Hey all!  Here we are on Tuesday with a new member as well as some various and sundry announcements. I meant to do this yesterday, but Special Lady Friend’s (aka – Future Mrs. Lauby) extended birthday celebration extravaganza kept me busy.

First up, our newest member blog:

Tabletop Standard
Keywords: Painting tutorials and showcase for Warhammer 40k and Fantasy

Now, some announcements.

Announcement #1:  Dropzone Commander Review Status
We still intend to finish the series we started for the starter box, we just haven’t been able to get to it yet. Honestly, it’s a motivation issue – my head just isn’t wrapped around table top games right now.  Expect to see more DZC after the Holidays – things should have calmed down IRL and Dethtron and I may have even gotten a game in using the starter scenario. Questions about machine guns and buildings will be answered. Though I will say this:  if you’re interested in Dropzone Commander, the starter box is, absolutely, what you should buy.

Announcement #2:  Holiday Posting Schedule
As you might expect, the upcoming holidays mean that our posting schedule will be hit and miss for the rest of the year.  I’ve got some excellent Ballbusch Experience and Surprise Attack! posts saved up, so there will be stuff to read here.

Announcement #3:  Pathfinder Adventure Card Game Mini-review
Future Mrs. Lauby got a copy of this bad mama-jama for her birfday.  We had our first session with the game this past weekend and it is fucking excellent.  Actual quote from one of our buds: “this is more fun than actually playing Pathfinder”.  The game mechanics are elegant in a way that I have never seen, the pace is excellent and the game is easy to learn.  The cards themselves are beautifully illustrated and full of rules you will never have to look up for clarity.  All in all, one of the best games I’ve played in a while.
